Job Description

Testing Proctor

The Testing Proctor is responsible for ensuring a secure, fair, and professional testing environment for students taking exams. This position monitors testing sessions, verifies student identification, enforces testing policies and procedures, distributes and collects exam materials, and reports any irregularities. The Testing Proctor provides excellent customer service while maintaining exam integrity and confidentiality. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow established protocols are essential. Previous experience in education, testing, or customer service is preferred but not required.

Qualifications:

  • Must not be a Galveston College student
  • High school diploma of equivalent, Associate degree or higher preferred
  • Consistent demonstration of high-quality customer service, experience in an academia or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Desire and ability to positively interact with diverse populations.
  • High level of technology proficiency.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/proficiency in basic computer software, online applications, Microsoft, Internet, email, and office equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaborative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn on the job and participate actively and work independently in a quiet environment.
  • Must be able to learn detailed procedures, work in a busy environment, and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Must be flexible, schedule may include evenings and Saturdays

Duties:

  • Earns and maintains required exam sponsor certifications.
  • Provides proctoring ensuring secure testing environment supporting college faculty.
  • Administers accommodated exams as per guidelines of Office of Special Services.
  • Administers exams explicitly following testing procedure and protocol established by contract test providers.
  • Executes daily site opening and closing procedures, performs daily download of exams, and follows site schedule.
  • Performs basic office duties: phone, voicemail, email, file maintenance.
  • Controls admission to/from testing lab(s), verifies ID following test provider policy.
  • Monitors examinees during test sessions safeguarding exam security.
  • Records/reports academic dishonesty and exam discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Troubleshoots online exam apps, communicates with exam sponsor technical support.
  • Communicates with IT help desk for hardware support.
  • Understands and executes unique testing processes for exam sponsors and faculty members adhering to all quality/security measures.
  • Maintains accurate electronic record of exams received, scheduled, taken.
  • Preserves the confidentiality of all information in relation to student records and testing information.
  • Contributes to a safe educational and working environment by participating in all drills and training and being prepared to take action should a health or safety emergency occur.
  • Maintains a professional and clean testing center; includes sanitizing testing stations.
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs.
  • Physical agility required to move from administration and proctor desks into testing room(s).
  • Other duties as assigned
