The position will offer the opportunity to work on small and large high-profile roadway and highway projects. You will perform a variety of tasks that will require the application of sound principles and best practices.Your Key ResponsibilitiesProjects include traffic signal system design and re-timing, operational analysis, roadway capacity analysis, traffic safety studies, traffic signal, signing, and pavement marking and design, street lighting / illumination design, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS).Prepare construction documents and cost estimates for City, County and State roadway and highway projects.Perform complex engineering design tasks per Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT’s) design standards.Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate the technical aspects of assigned projects.Train developing staff on design and operational analysis software packages for traffic engineering projects.Your Capabilities and CredentialsProficiency in OpenRoads Designer, SignCAD, and AGI-32ProjectWise experience preferredProficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, including writing technical reports and memos using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointStrong knowledge of the TxDOT design/planning procedures, and PS&E plan productionExperience must include traffic operations and safety; highway capacity analysis; traffic operational analysis; Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD); designing and implementing traffic signal system timings; and preparing PS&E plans.Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovationAbility to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others Education and ExperienceBachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) minimumTX PE license or ability to obtain within 6 monthsMinimum of 5 years traffic engineering project experienceTxDOT Precertification preferredThis description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.About StantecStantec is a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting.
