About the Role:

The Highway Lighting Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of highway lighting projects to ensure safe and efficient illumination of roadways. This role involves managing on-site construction activities, supervising crews, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and project specifications. The superintendent will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain project timelines and budgets while upholding quality standards. A key outcome of this position is the successful installation and maintenance of highway lighting systems that enhance visibility and safety for motorists and pedestrians. Ultimately, the superintendent plays a critical role in delivering infrastructure projects that meet client expectations and regulatory requirements across various locations in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electrical or construction fields preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in highway lighting or electrical construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of highway lighting standards, electrical codes, and construction safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites across the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Certification in construction safety (e.g., OSHA 30-hour) or project management (e.g., PMP).
  • Experience with traffic control planning and implementation during highway construction projects.
  • Familiarity with lighting control systems and energy-efficient lighting technologies.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills demonstrated through previous successful project management.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of highway lighting crews to ensure efficient and safe project execution.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and schedules to align work activities with project goals and deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations and company policies on construction sites.
  • Manage procurement and allocation of materials, equipment, and labor resources to optimize productivity.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality of work, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and implement solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports on project status, workforce performance, and incident records.
  • Lead safety meetings and training sessions to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement among the team.
  • Coordinate with traffic control personnel to minimize disruptions and ensure public safety during construction activities.
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of highway lighting systems to meet design specifications.
