Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

Location: Tampa, FL

Our client is seeking an experienced  Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support plant operations by driving safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an EHS professional who enjoys partnering with operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams to foster a strong safety culture in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and maintain the plant's Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) management system.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and root cause analyses.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company EHS policies and procedures.
• Partner with plant leadership to identify risks and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead and support EHS training, new hire orientation, and ongoing safety initiatives.
• Track and analyze safety metrics, incidents, and corrective actions using EHS management systems.
• Support sustainability initiatives, capital projects, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Coordinate with corporate EHS, operations, engineering, maintenance, HR, and external vendors to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance, accident investigations, risk assessments, and safety management systems.
• Hands-on experience with  Machine Guarding, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Confined Space programs is highly preferred.
• Experience using EHS management systems (Gensuite or similar) is a plus.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• CSP, ASP, CIH, or CEP certifications are a plus.
