Job Description

Operates a hospital vehicle, providing transportation within a 35-mile radius for employees, patients, and visitors to locations such as the hospital, airport, valet lots, and St. Jude parking facilities. This position may serve as a courier to move patient samples from housing to campus and deliver medication and equipment inside of 35-mile radius. This position also picks up hospital mail from the main post office for daily delivery to the Mail Center and handles pick-ups for various hospital services, returning items to the appropriate departments. Job Responsibilities: Use hospital vehicle/ shuttle to provide transportation service for employees, patients and visitors between the hospital and St. Jude parking lots and the St. Jude sponsored lodging facilities. Assist in performing preventive maintenance checks (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, gas oil, interiors). Assist passengers entering/exiting the vehicle as required including baggage supplies; Regularly cleans the interior and exterior of the vehicle. Contribute to overall team effort by handling customer complaints in a positive manner, elevate as needed. Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Minimum Education and/or Training: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Minimum Experience: 1+ years of professional driving experience. Some experience operating a 15-passenger van, preferred; Must have a valid driver's license from the employee’s state of residence and be insurable by St. Jude’s insurance carrier. Some experience in the safe and efficient operation of appropriate size vehicle. Knowledge of state and local laws governing the operation of a motor vehicle. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only: (LC: DLF-TN or DLF-ARK or DLF-MISS) Must have or obtain a valid driver's license with "F", "P" or equivalent endorsement from the employee’s state of residence within the probationary period (90 days of hire date) and be insurable by St. Jude’s insurance carrier. Demonstrates promptness in seeking supervision to respond to complex queries. Operates vehicles safely for basic transport tasks inline with traffic laws and hospital driving policies. Demonstrates physical fitness and is able to drive for multiple hours. Undergoes and clears necessary background checks and driving requirements. Understands the importance of teamwork and comes to work with a positive attitude. Works best with clear instructions and defined roles; Participates in team activities when directed.
