Job Description

This role focuses on installing, terminating, and inspecting electrical connectors and wiring on aircraft systems in a highly regulated aerospace environment. You will interpret engineering drawings and wiring diagrams, perform electrical tests, and ensure all work complies with applicable aerospace and defense standards. The position requires strong hands-on skills with connectors and wiring, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair avionics-related electrical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and inspect electrical connectors on aircraft systems in accordance with aerospace and defense standards.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical orders, and process specifications to execute electrical work accurately.
  • Perform continuity checks, insulation resistance testing, and torqueing of connectors to verify proper installation and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair connector-related issues in avionics and aircraft electrical systems, including identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Route, handle, and secure wire harnesses, including shielded wire, coaxial cable, and fiber optic wiring, to meet design and safety requirements.
  • Perform sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of wiring and harness assemblies to ensure durability and compliance with standards.
  • Use tooling assemblies, fixtures, and hand and power tools to perform repairs, modifications, and installations on aircraft wiring and connectors.
  • Conduct visual, operational, and quality checks on electrical installations to confirm compliance with engineering and quality requirements.
  • Ensure all work meets applicable aerospace and defense standards for electrical installations and documentation.
  • Work across multiple shifts, including weekends and holidays when required, and support overtime to meet program schedules.
  • For advanced-level roles, lead small teams, provide guidance and mentoring to junior technicians, and interface with engineering staff on technical issues.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area within the hangar environment.

Essential Skills

  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in avionics or electrical connector work for Level II roles (minimum 5 years of experience).
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in avionics or electrical systems with advanced connector expertise for Level III roles.
  • Strong electrical aptitude and hands-on experience with aircraft electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with MIL-SPEC connectors and aerospace wiring standards.
  • Experience with wire harness routing and handling on aircraft platforms.
  • Experience with connector terminations, including shielded wire, coaxial cable, and fiber optic wiring termination.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and wiring schematics.
  • Ability to interpret technical orders and process specifications and apply them accurately in daily work.
  • Capability to perform sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of wiring and harness assemblies.
  • Experience using tooling assemblies, fixtures, and a variety of hand and power tools for repair and modification work.
  • Ability to perform visual, operational, and quality checks on electrical installations.
  • Ability to work independently, follow detailed instructions, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ability to work across multiple shifts, including weekends and holidays, and to support overtime as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required Interim Secret or active Secret clearance, as applicable.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in troubleshooting complex electrical issues and mentoring junior technicians (particularly for Level III roles).
  • Experience with military or commercial aircraft platforms, including modification or depot-level maintenance.
  • Prior experience supporting programs similar to the VC program (e.g., Air Force One) or other high-visibility aircraft programs.
  • Experience with avionics installation, aircraft modification, aviation electronics, and electrical wiring on aircraft.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 or equivalent certification related to cable and wire harness assembly.
  • Ability to lead small teams and coordinate tasks with engineering staff and other stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in a structured, standards-driven aerospace and defense environment.
  • Strong communication skills to interface effectively with engineering and quality teams.

Work Environment

Work takes place inside an aircraft hangar at a secure aerospace facility, supporting onsite operations on active aircraft. You will work around large aircraft, tooling assemblies, fixtures, and a variety of hand and power tools in a production and modification environment. The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with voluntary overtime opportunities as program needs require. The role may involve working across multiple shifts, including weekends and holidays, depending on project demands. An active Secret clearance is required, and you will operate within a controlled, security-focused setting that follows strict safety, quality, and documentation standards. Attire must be appropriate for a hangar and shop environment, suitable for hands-on electrical and mechanical work around aircraft and equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
